Grace Bible Chapel’s believes missionary support should be built on strong individual relationships.  Those close relationships can be absent when handled by a Church Mission Board.  We believe this approach reduces the risk of losing touch with our missionaries, helps them be more accountable, keeps us better informed on their ministry activities and maintains support over the long term.  These folks are not just missionaries, they are our friends.

We regularly invite missionaries to speak at our Church and to meet with our interested members.  This expands our work in carrying out the great commission by building close friendships with the missionaries we support.

At present the folks at GBC have close supporting relationships with missionaries working in every part of the world.

Community Outreach

We believe the church should have a stake in the community beyond its mere presence.  This is where you will currently see “GBC In the Community”:

Monthly Community Food Drive

Each month GBC organizes food collections in support of the Lake Cities Food Pantry located at the Lake Cities United Methodist Church in Lake Dallas.  Our members and their kids prepare, distribute grocery bags with detailed information on the items needed most by the Food Pantry.

The bags are distributed on a rotating basis to neighborhoods within the Lake Cities area.   The following week we return to collect the donations from the homes that chose to participate.  Between 250 & 300 homes are included each month in our food drive.

WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) – Is the father involvement initiative of the National Center for Fathering that organizes fathers and father figures in order to provide positive male role models for the students and to enhance school security.

Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures volunteer to serve at least one day a year in a variety of school activities as assigned by the school principal or other administrator.

The GBC leadership organizes and coordinates the Watch D.O.G.S. program for Corinth Elementary.  We work with the school principal in the planning of activities and assignments for our dads.

Holiday Activities – GBC works with the Lake Cities Spirit of Christmas in organizing the Thanksgiving Food Box Distribution, and the Christmas gift program for over 200 families in our area.

Easter we conduct a Sunrise Service at West Lake Park on the shore of Lake Lewisville followed by a pancake breakfast.

Children’s Ministry

Our Children’s Ministry meets every Sunday morning during the worship service.  We have classes for Pre-School and School Aged Children (10:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.)

Our purpose is to provide the context and platform by which our Pre-School (2 yrs – K) and Primary School Aged Kids (1st -5th ) can enter into the exciting adventure of discovering a life with Jesus Christ.

The curriculum teaches through Bible stories, missions, prayer, singing and other activities.

We believe children are as much a part of the church ministry as the adults.  Our kids participate in our community outreach programs and service projects.

What to expect

We are a congregation whom desires to know and understand God’s truth; and therefore do not rely on the wisdom, eloquence, or personality of our pastors, but rather on the proclamation of God’s word, to change lives. We sing both traditional hymns and contemporary choruses as our theology drives our music choices. We want GBC to be an easy place to fit in, so we keep things simple and focus on what is important.

Which Bible Translation is used?

We mainly teach from the NASB on Sundays, but do use a variety of reliable Bible versions (NIV, NET, NKJV, etc.) as well as interaction with the Greek and Hebrew text.

How do people normally dress?

This is Texas so we keep it casual; you may see some in suits and dresses sitting next to someone in jeans, t-shirt and flip-flops.

Our Vision

We envision Grace Bible Chapel growing a ministry that is not bound by the conventions of the modern American church.  We are not seeking to become the next mega church congregation, but believe starting new churches will better serve the command of Christ to make disciples.

We will be a church that emphasizes and is grounded in the study and teaching of God’s word.

We will be a church that pursues the commission of Jesus Christ to go and make disciples.  We will encourage everyone at GBC to share the gospel of Christ with at least one person from their family, friends or colleagues each month.

We will be a church that develops disciples in the work of ministry so that we are continuously building up one another in love and truth.

We will be a church that demonstrates the love and unity of the Spirit of God through outreach to our neighbors and care for our church family.

We will be a church that encourages and supports the planting churches with a similar view of ministry in the nearby communities.

This is our dream – this is our vision.

Our Values

Grace Bible Chapel holds these values:

Bible Teaching – We place a high value on teaching the Bible with clarity because we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is central to our understanding of God and our relationship with Him.  Our practice is to study a book from beginning to end with the occasional topical series.  Small groups follow a similar course of study  (1 timothy 3:15, 2 Timothy 2:15).

Discipleship – Jesus Christ issued the Church a mandate to make disciples (Matthew 28:19 & 20).  Every Christian is to be a disciple and to be a maker of disciples (Ephesians 2:10).

Community – The Church has the responsibility to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the world and we believe the best way to do this is by building from the community back to the church.  We can reach our community and then the world (Titus 3:1-8).

Grace – It is by God’s grace that we are saved through faith and therefore salvation is a free gift.  We stand on this truth and are not ashamed of the Gospel.  We will teach and live by this truth without apology or reservation (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Our Beliefs

Why We Believe

Today the public domain is filled with competing voices attempting to convince us of the true spiritual nature of man.  At the same time we have others claiming there is no spiritual dimension to human existence.   To absolutely deny the possibility of God’s existence is not rational since it is a claim to knowledge none of us can actually have.  Likewise, to claim an absolute knowledge of God based on human reason alone cannot stand up to close examination.  So, to whom do we listen?

We believe it is possible to find the answer.  Belief in God is not only reasonable but is consistent with what science tells us about the universe in which we live.  Jesus Christ is the most significant person to ever walk the face of the earth.  It is His message of God’s love and offer of salvation through faith, which has drawn us to Him.

Salvation- Restoring a relationship with God

We all recognize that none of us are perfect.  In fact every one of us is guilty of having done something wrong in our past.  Wrong behavior is another way of describing what the Bible calls sin.  Sin is what separates us from God.  The Bible says: That God loved the world so much that He gave His only Begotten Son (Jesus Christ) that anyone who believes in Him would not ultimately perish but would have eternal life. (John. 3:16) Jesus Himself said: “He who believes in Me will have everlasting life.” (John 6:47)

Jesus Christ gave His life on the cross to remove the penalty of sin from the world. He removed the barrier of sin that separates us from God. (1 John 2:1 & 2) There is no need to clean up your act, stop what you are doing or plead with God to gain His acceptance. God provides this everlasting life out of His gracious love for you. (Ephesians 2:8 &9) No work required.

Jesus died on the cross for our sins and then rose from the dead to prove there is life in Him. That is the good news we call the gospel. Believe in Jesus Christ and you will have a place in God’s heaven to live eternally.  This we believe and on this we stand.

Our Belief Statement

The Evangelical Free Church of America is an association of autonomous churches united around these theological convictions:

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Having limitless knowledge and sovereign power, God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things new for His own glory.

The Bible

We believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, through the words of human authors. As the verbally inspired Word of God, the Bible is without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for salvation, and the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged. Therefore, it is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises.

The Human Condition

We believe that God created Adam and Eve in His image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan. In union with Adam, human beings are sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God, and under His wrath. Only through God’s saving work in Jesus Christ can we be rescued, reconciled and renewed.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, one Person in two natures. Jesus-Israel’s promised Messiah-was conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.

The Work of Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed His blood on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His atoning death and victorious resurrection constitute the only ground for salvation.

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit, in all that He does, glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of its guilt. He regenerates sinners, and in Him they are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God. He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service.

The Church

We believe that the true church comprises all who have been justified by God’s grace through faith alone in Christ alone. They are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, of which He is the Head. The true church is manifest in local churches, whose membership should be composed only of believers. The Lord Jesus mandated two ordinances, baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which visibly and tangibly express the gospel. Though they are not the means of salvation, when celebrated by the church in genuine faith, these ordinances confirm and nourish the believer.

Christian Living

We believe that God’s justifying grace must not be separated from His sanctifying power and purpose. God commands us to love Him supremely and others sacrificially, and to live out our faith with care for one another, compassion toward the poor and justice for the oppressed. With God’s Word, the Spirit’s power, and fervent prayer in Christ’s name, we are to combat the spiritual forces of evil. In obedience to Christ’s commission, we are to make disciples among all people, always bearing witness to the gospel in word and deed.

Christ’s Return

We believe in the personal, bodily and pre-millennial return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The coming of Christ, at a time known only to God, demands constant expectancy and, as our blessed hope, motivates the believer to godly living, sacrificial service and energetic mission.

Response and Eternal Destiny

We believe that God commands everyone everywhere to believe the gospel by turning to Him in repentance and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that God will raise the dead bodily and judge the world, assigning the unbeliever to condemnation and eternal conscious punishment and the believer to eternal blessedness and joy with the Lord in the new heaven and the new earth, to the praise of His glorious grace. Amen.

Our Mission

“Make disciples who make disciples”

Grace Bible Chapel was started by a small group of families that saw a need for a Church in the Southern Denton County area that is dedicated to Biblical teaching and proclaiming the truth of God’s grace. That is the heart of the Great Commission Jesus gave the church in Matthew 28:19-20. Implicit in the commission is the work of evangelism, teaching and equipping each person as they move along the path of discipleship.

So, we at Grace Bible Chapel have made it our mission to “make disciples who make disciples” as we serve and grow in the unity of the Spirit.
